How I Reclaimed My Life from Chronic Pain

We all have a story of what brought us to discover holistic training. For most of us, it’s less of a technique and more a necessity for our quality of life. It has taken a life we thought would be ridden with chronic pain and replaced it with mobility. This is how our trainer Ian discovered holistic training and how it changed his life.

Ian was a high achiever from a young age. As a nationally ranked high school wrestler, he was used to pushing his body to the limit to come out on top. And it worked! He was strong and successful. And then the injury happened.

Due to a preexisting genetic weakness in his spine, Ian broke his back and his life changed forever.

After a surgery to fuse his vertebrae, he had to relearn how to walk, and even when he could function again after months of physical therapy, he was left with chronic back pain that plagued him for over a decade. That’s when he found Holistic Personal Training

I could see instantly there was something different about this approach,” Ian says. “They were looking at me as a whole person, and not as a collection of body parts.”

Within 6 months, his back pain was gone. He started doing things he had been told would never be possible for his body again.

The doctors told me that I could never be an athlete again, or do much more than the basics of walking and sitting—and even that hurt. But now I feel stronger than ever—I can train for rock climbing (my current sport addiction) at a high level and never worry about my back because I know how to take care of myself.”

After experiencing such incredible results, Ian knew he had to share this work with others, and got trained through an intensive year-long program in 2018. Now he shares this life changing method with clients.
